Terms

Terms of Service.

Last updated 11 September 2026

These are the terms you are agreeing to by using Labor.quest. They are written in plain sentences on purpose, because terms nobody can read are terms nobody has agreed to.

The parts most worth your time are section 4 on how credits are spent, section 5 on what cancelling a subscription actually does, and section 7 on what an AI-generated answer is and is not. Everything else is closer to what you would expect.

1What Labor.quest is

Labor.quest is an interview preparation service. When you are signed in, you can upload a CV and have it analysed, paste a job description and get a fit match with a score and a ranked list of gaps, generate a tailored CV, generate a preparation plan and a question bank, run a spoken practice interview against an AI interviewer and read the transcript afterwards, track your applications through their stages, search job postings, and read research about companies and demand for your skills.

Every one of those is an AI model producing text from what you gave it. That single fact explains most of what follows: why we promise nothing about the output (section 7), why what you send to an employer is your responsibility (section 7 again), and why a spent credit cannot come back (section 4).

Using the service means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not sign up. Our Privacy Policy covers what we do with your data and is part of the same agreement.

2Your account

  • You sign up with an email address and a password, or with a Google account. Verifying your email is not optional: you cannot sign in at all until you have.
  • One account per person. Accounts are not to be shared, sold, or handed on. If your email already has a password account, signing in with Google is refused rather than merged, so use the method you signed up with.
  • Keep your password and your inbox secure. Anyone who can read your email can reset your password, so your inbox is part of your account's security. Tell us at hello@labor.quest if you think someone else has access.
  • Everything you do while signed in is treated as done by you. Sessions last fifteen minutes and are not extended in the background, so an unattended session ends rather than staying open.
  • You can clear all of your content yourself, at any time. Removing the account itself takes a person: email hello@labor.quest and ask. There is no button for it, and we would rather say so here than let you go looking for one.

3What you must not do

This list is short and it is about the things this product could actually be misused for.

  • Do not upload a CV that is not yours, or that you do not have permission to process. The app takes whatever file it is given at face value.
  • Do not paste content you have no right to, such as a confidential job description or a competitor's material.
  • Do not use the tools to invent a history you do not have. A tailored CV is written from what you give it. Fabricated input produces fabricated output, and that lands on you in front of an employer, not on us.
  • No scraping, no automated access, and no reselling of the job postings or the company research. The postings reach us from other companies under their own terms, and reselling them would breach theirs as well as ours.
  • Do not try to obtain credits you did not buy or were not granted, including by replaying a checkout link. For the record it does not work, since credits are only ever granted by a signed message from Stripe and never by your browser returning from checkout.
  • Nothing illegal, and no attempt to make the model produce illegal material.

Section 10 says what happens if you do one of these. The short version is that a first offence normally costs you access rather than your credit balance.

4Credits and how they are spent

Credits are the single currency of the service. Nothing is locked behind a plan: every plan opens every tool, and credits decide how much you run rather than what you can reach.

  • A credit is a unit of AI usage. Anything that calls the model spends them: CV analysis, a fit match, a preparation plan, a question bank and any expansion of one, CV tailoring, company analysis and practice rounds. Your balance is checked before the work starts, and each run is recorded on a ledger you can read.
  • The cost of a run is not fixed, because it depends on how much text goes in and how much comes out. A long CV against a long job description costs more than a short one. This means we charge per usage, not per action, and it is why you will not find a price list per feature.
  • Prices and credit amounts are shown in the app, on the Credits page, and that is the authoritative place for them. We have deliberately not copied the figures into this document, because a number in two places is a number that will disagree with itself.
  • Credits bought as a block never expire. Credits that come with a subscription work differently: see section 5.
  • Credits are not money. They cannot be exchanged for cash, moved to another account, or cashed out, and they have no value outside the service.

Running out costs you access, never your content

At a zero balance the tools stop and the app asks you to top up. Nothing you have already generated is touched, nothing expires while your balance sits at zero, and everything is waiting when you add credits. Your scores, plans, CVs and applications are yours whether you have credits or not.

Credit amounts and prices can change. A change never affects a billing cycle you have already paid for, and if a subscription price changes we will tell you before the renewal that charges it, so you can cancel first if you would rather.

5Subscriptions, and what cancelling does

A subscription grants a set number of credits each billing cycle. Those credits are reset at each renewal rather than added, so they do not accumulate: what is left of a cycle's subscription credits is replaced when the next cycle's arrive.

A reset never touches credits you bought as a block. Those were bought outright, so if you have both, your block credits survive every renewal untouched.

Cancelling

Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not send money or credits back.

That is the whole rule. In detail, it means all of this:

  • You keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling is never an immediate cut off, and the app shows you the date it runs to.
  • No further payment is taken. There is no next invoice.
  • Nothing is refunded: not the month in progress, not part of it, and not any credit you did not get around to spending. Credits have no cash value and are not converted back into money.
  • The credits from your final paid cycle stay in your balance and stay usable. They are not cancelled along with the plan. You paid for that cycle, so you keep what it granted.
  • You can undo a cancellation until the end date. Resuming costs nothing extra and does not create a second subscription. After the date passes, coming back is a new purchase.
  • You cannot be double billed by subscribing again while you are still entitled. A second concurrent subscription is refused.

6Refunds, failed payments and chargebacks

  • Credits are usable the moment they land, which is what makes them useful and also what makes them hard to refund. So: once any credit from a purchase has been spent, that purchase is not refundable.
  • If you have not touched a purchase at all, ask. Within 14 days of buying, if none of the credits from that purchase have been spent, write to hello@labor.quest and we will refund it. Outside that window it is at our discretion, and we would still rather you asked than assumed.
  • Your own consumer law wins. If the law where you live gives you a stronger right to a refund than this section does, you have that right and this section does not take it away.
  • We may remove credits granted by a payment that is later refunded or charged back. We do not do this automatically today, but a chargeback on a balance that has already been spent is not something we are willing to have argued away in advance.
  • A failed payment does not delete anything. If a card fails, the subscription can recover once the card is fixed, and Stripe will email you about it. There is no card update screen in the app yet, so those emails are currently the way to sort it out.
  • Discount and credit codes can be withdrawn at any time, and we may void credits obtained by abusing one, for example by using a single-use code on several accounts.

7What the output is, and what it is not

This section is the one to read if you read only one. Everything the tools produce is generated text, and generated text can be wrong.

  • Analyses, match scores, gap lists, plans, questions, tailored CVs and practice feedback are suggestions, not assessments. A fit score is a number a model produced. It is not a measurement of you, and it should never be read as one.
  • No outcome is promised. Not an interview, not an offer, not a job, not a better score, and not that a tailored CV will get through any particular screening system.
  • None of it is professional advice. Salary, visas, employment rights and similar things come up naturally in interview preparation and the model will answer about them. Those answers are not legal, financial, immigration, medical or career counselling advice, and should not be relied on as any of them.
  • Job postings come from other companies. They can be stale, duplicated, wrong or already filled, and applying always happens on the third party's own site under their terms, not ours.
  • Company research is generated, shared and can be out of date. It is gathered once per company and shown to everyone tracking it. It is not an endorsement of an employer, and it is not a warning about one either.
  • Check everything before you send it to an employer. The app writes; you are the one applying. That final read is yours and it matters.

8Your content, our product

What stays yours

  • Everything you upload or write. Your CV, the job descriptions you paste, your notes. Ours to hold, never ours to own.
  • The output, for your own job search. Use your tailored CVs, plans and answers however you like.

To run the service on your content, you give us permission to store it, send it to the AI model, produce and keep the results, and show all of it back to you. That permission goes no further than that. In particular, we do not use your content for marketing, we do not show it to other users, and we do not use it to train any AI model. The Privacy Policy commits to the same thing.

Output is not exclusive

The model writes from what you give it, so two people with similar CVs applying for similar roles can receive similar phrasing. We cannot promise that anything generated for you is unique, and we do not claim to.

What stays ours

  • The service itself: the code, the design, the name Labor.quest and the wordmark. Using the product does not give you a licence to copy it.
  • Any feedback you send us. We can use it freely and without owing you anything for it, which is the only way feedback is practical to act on. We will not identify you as its source without asking.

9Availability, changes and shutting down

  • There is no uptime guarantee and no service level agreement. The service can be unavailable for maintenance, or because something it depends on is down.
  • Features can change or be withdrawn. Some already have been. We will not pretend this is only a theoretical clause.
  • Withdrawing a feature does not void your credits. They stay spendable on whatever the service still does.

If the service shuts down entirely

We will give you notice before it happens, so that you can download what you want to keep, and we will refund credits you bought and have not spent. Free credits that were granted rather than purchased are not refunded, because there was never any money behind them. We are committing to that here rather than leaving it to be argued about later.

10Suspension, and ending things

  • We can suspend or close an account for a breach of section 3, for non-payment, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable to, we will tell you what the problem is first and give you a chance to fix it.
  • A suspension normally preserves your credits. The exception is a breach that was about the credits themselves, such as abusing a discount code or trying to obtain credits you did not buy. A wrongly suspended paying user losing their balance is the worse failure of the two, so the balance is the default.
  • You can stop whenever you like. Cancel the subscription, clear your content, or email hello@labor.quest to have the account removed. Stopping does not refund anything already paid.

11Liability

We are responsible for running the service as described here. We are not responsible for what you decide to do with what it produces.

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and specifically not for any loss connected to a job you did not get, an offer you did not receive, or a salary you did not negotiate. That is the claim this product will attract, so it is named rather than left to a general exclusion.
  • Where we are liable, it is capped at the greater of what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
  • Some things cannot be excluded and are not. Fraud, gross negligence, and whatever your local consumer law protects regardless of what a contract says. Nothing above limits any of those.
  • Talk to us first. If you have a problem, write to hello@labor.quest and give us a fair chance to fix it before taking it further. Most things are a misunderstanding and are cheaper for both of us to sort out that way.

12Changes to these terms

These terms can change as the product does. The date at the top is the version you are reading, and the current version always lives at labor.quest/terms.

For a change that materially affects you, in particular anything about credits, prices, refunds or your content, we will tell you in the app rather than only editing this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, cancel any subscription and stop using the service, and tell us if you think a refund is owed under section 6.

Questions about this document, or a request you want to make? Write to hello@labor.quest and a person will read it.
